The best thing from the class was a lot of attention paid to how careful/heat sensitive soldering the piezoelectric disk is, ive had trouble with them before. (wanted to make some sound/vibration powered LED's for our Sound of the electron event. but kept having failures. the ones that worked were from reclaimed disks which already had wires or solder pads on the crystal contact. )

All in all good class, great folks, pretty good teachers. My only real issue their theory was a little off on the piezoelectric disk mechanics. Nothing that made the end product any less awesome.

Found that no added sugar dark chocolate emulsion was quite good. Suggestions for next time I make a water-chocolate emulsion mousse are: 1:1 72% Trader Joe's chocolate with water, .2 parts sugar (by mass). When whisking mousse, drizzle into emulsion .3 parts scented water such as Orange blossom or Rose.

I wanted to take a look at the AVR binary image to see if my embedded version code made it to the AVR executable. Here's how I did it:

avr-objcopy -I ihex /tmp/build5473499130791137642.tmp/tempPID.cpp.hex -O binary t.bin

I was able to run "strings" on this binary, and recover my secret embedded constants. Seems like this might be a good thing to keep in case you want to download an image of code loaded into an AVR, and compare it to the original.

Oh no...why did you stop? It's funny...I dismantled a player piano last year (it could no longer be tuned), and I had exactly this though, did a quick search, and found your article. Are further instructions available anywhere?

Having some issues with global classes. Not sure what the issue is, but here are some collected suggestions.
* don't call delay from startup(), it will hang
* don't use non-null constructors. (I'm having trouble with constructors period)
**Arduino convention is a null constructor, with a begin() method called from startup
* new and delete are not fully supported. I'm not so sure there aren't issues with malloc/free too. memory on AVR is different
* static variables in functions seemed problematic. Moved them to globals.
* every class should have it's own .cpp and .h file

we don't have much closet space, although the one by the front bathroom might work, inside its about 19" wide, and shelves can be moved/removed for height. no power unless we tap the light outside the closet, or run an extension cord. in a tiny space like that a lightbulb in a coffecan with a temperature controller could be used,

It will be tricky right now at the lab, in the cold. AFAIK, mead likes a warm ferment. like around 78F. We could try, perhaps with a beer yeast. Do we have a small closet available where we could place a heater? Perhaps we could build an insulated enclosure. I think I could bring a cajun cooker and vessel if you wish to pasteurize. (Some people just use sulfates like wine). Several people have shown interest in brewing too. Perhaps we could schedule a big brew day on a Saturday or Sunday. Is there interest for this in Late January? Feb?

Ironically we did have one copy in the entry room for a month or so, I have a toolbox full of old 2600 issues there.

Next Friday the 2nd of December is the next 2600 meeting! 6-9pm come on down!

Its really hard to say, there will likely be a fair bit of old Heathkit, stuff, a few ossilliscopes, solar lights, computer parts. books. gadgets, printers, optics, RC-toys, and alot of random electronics. As for pricing, its hard to say, we are encouraging everyone to barter/trade price their own stuff. there may have been some $50 dollar items last yardsale but most were in the $1-$20 range.

Does anyone have a "wishlist" of things they hope to find?
Would anyone mind letting me know some of the items (& ~Prices?~).
    I have a friend who lives in Santa Fe, & Im hoping he will come give me a ride, but he is unsure if it would be worth the trip (I have said YES, of course it is <wink>but he would like to know what to expect when he gets there) Specifically he wants to know how much things will be going for. (He is not interested in 0.05 stuff <he saiys="">)

I would really like to brew a batch of mead.. I cant do it at my house.. BUT... I am relativly confident that I could get someone VERY knowlagable to come and help. -- Is anyone interested in Mead (i.e. honey wine) it is very easy to make.. and there is alot of room for personal taste and variety.. -- would just need ppl who wanted to participate to bring their own supplies (ie honey) .. ???
